PETER STEMPE, oboe, is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a Music Performance degree where he followed with a stint in Berlin with the 28th Army Band, as oboist and bus driver. On his return to the United States, he earned a Master’s degree at Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. He is formerly a member of the Hartford Symphony, Hartford Chamber Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, New Orleans Symphony and the Kansas City Philharmonic and has taught at Wesleyan University and Tulane University. He is the Principal Oboist of Oregon’s Sunriver Music Festival and Topeka’s Sunflower Music Festival. Mr. Stempe has been a featured soloist with orchestras around the country. He is currently adjunct faculty at Albertson College of Idaho and Northwest Nazarene University.
